Um yeah, I guess I didn’t see the part where disobeying a member of the RIFT community team was a ban-able offense, but OK, TRION, whatever dudes, crap like this is what’s going to be your downfall once the hub-bub subsides… sucks too, because I really like your game.  Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame until  SW:TOR gets here….

I agree with the SWTOR bit and hey we can roll on the same realm =)

Yup, can’t wait till it comes out, I’m guessing quite a few MMO’s will be left sucking wind around this time.

“Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame until SW:TOR gets here….”

Hahaha, ooo the biting tongue of a gamer scorned! Sadly it’s probably true, though no less harsh ^^

Seems like they are going with a more heavy handed “get them in line early on” to avoid the cesspool of forums WoW has going on. Looks like anyone even associated with naysayers is going to be twiddling thumbs for a few days, which will more likely than not lead to more “nice” on the forums, but at the cost of dead forums for all the people who type “nice” are going to worry about getting the boot at the first accidental wrong thing said.

Welcome to the blog EC, LOL, I had to laugh at the gamer scorned comment 🙂

I mean to be truthful, I sort of expected to be disciplined or something. But a banning from the forums (yet to see if it extends to the game)? A bit much I’d say and kind of points to an overzealous Admin.

But seriously, I’ve been trying to come up with a reason for why they would possibly disband guild 1 (without even a warning, mind you), and give that guilds name to guild 2, even though guild 1 was there first.

Wouldn’t it have a been a better solution to just tell guild 2 to go to another server as that name was already in use? They can scream “investigation” all they want, but wasn’t the guy doing the investigating the same guy who upheld the original GM’s decision in the first place? What a surprise that it came out the way it did! Puh-leez!

Don’t you know when you tell stupid people they’re stupid and they know you’re right that they just get angry? lolol

        Keep it up, I likey.

My only purpose is to amuse 😉

I’ll tell you one thing though… being all “controversial” and stuff has been good for the old hit meter!

  5. March 3, 2011 at 12:00

Aww, c’mon, Moj – this post just reads like sour grapes. While I don’t agree with TRION’s decision (on the guild name change), your ban – or their management of the forums – is certainly not going to be the downfall of RIFT. There are a million other things you can point to potentially, but overzealous forum mods? Highly doubtful. This is development team that has scored major points for their interactions with the community – it’ll take a lot more than that to cost them on the PR front.

Once again, let me reiterate that I’m NOT upset about being banned. I was only banned from posting on the forums (no big deal).

What got me riled was TRION’s heavy handed tactics which basically amount to censorship. Why can’t we talk about this one particular case? Eventually it would die out as all things do… My guess is that they know they were wrong but are unwilling to go back on their initial decision and now they want the controversy to die quickly. Not cool in my book.

So no sour grapes here my brother, just indignation at the way they handled this particular situation WITH THE GUILD IN QUESTION (not my banning).

I am a bit disapointed to be honest. I was hoping for a nuclear metldown or something. You know, with you on the evening news atop a flamming car holding the heads of your vanquished enemies…

hrmmm… Well, I guess it does tell a lot about Trion. I find that you can always have a good idea about a company only by their customer relation people.

  7. March 4, 2011 at 10:28

Nah, no nuclear meltdown (Charlie Sheen seems to have the monopoly on that these days 🙂 )

Winning. I’ve got tiger blood and Adonis DNA, man.
