The Germans Retreat! (And the Hawtness that is Girl Grey!)

The Hawtness that is Girl Grey!

Well, I’m back from the back roads and bayous of Louisiana.  It’s been an interesting two and half weeks showing the Germans around our fair state.  I’ve even learned a few things.  I must admit that I absolutely love touring the “local” plantations (we did a couple on their visit) and of course who doesn’t like/love New Orleans?  The French Quarter is great and all that, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square Cathedral etc., but there is so much more to do in N.O. that if you limit yourself to just the French Quarter only, you’re doing yourself a real disservice.

We also had time to go see the Angola Prison Rodeo (yes, it was in a real prison) as well as take in an Indian pow-wow at one of the areas nearby casinos.   Not sure what to think about the rodeo (it was my first) but it was alright, I guess.  Bull poker was the highlight… DON’T try this at home… unless you have a death wish or something….

I think I ate too much though.  I feel like I must have put on 10 lbs at least.  Near the end there, it seemed that we planned our days around our next meal.  Well, that wasn’t entirely a bad thing since if there is one thing that I can wholeheartedly recommend about Louisiana – it’s the awesome food! Gumbo’s, etouffe’s, shrimp boils, bisques… Mmmm!  Enough of that though, really.  I think if I even look at food right now I’m going to have to invest in a new wardrobe.

Game wise, I don’t really have a lot to report.  I haven’t really played all that much during the past two and half weeks.  I mean, I got to play a couple of hours here and there most nights, but for the most part, I was so freaking tired from all the driving (over 2k miles these past few weeks) I often found myself just trying to avoid having the keyboard imprinted on my forehead from dozing off while trying to play.  It was sad.  Really.

I finally just gave up and started only logging in to check my auction house sales etc.  I did manage to progress a little during the vacation, however.  My Hunter hit level 35 last night, so he’s now equal to the highest level Hunter I had back when I played in ’06.  I have a bit more gold now than I had by this time on my previous character, if I remember right.  I’ve been lucky with the drops (mostly greens but a couple blues too) and I’ve found that you can often get between 3-6 gold per green and significantly more for blue items (I sold one blue item for 120 gold).  It helps that most of the zones that I’ve been leveling in have been pretty devoid of people –  so just about every named mob (and his loot) has been up – just ripe for the picking and subsequent trip to the auction house.  As a result I’ve managed to make a surprising amount of gold and outfit my Hunter with some decent gear.  Also, one nice person who apparently reads this blog, tracked me down in game and gave me 200 gold (I didn’t realize the amount was so vast at the time – so thank you even more!).

The game play itself has so far been pretty much a cake walk (although I dislike all the  running around one has to do to complete some quests), so if everything stays at about the same level of “difficulty”, I’m hoping to get pretty close to level cap by the time Cataclysm comes out in about a month.  We’ll see if that’s a reasonable expectation or not in the following weeks.  If I can just keep the wife “at bay” for a little “me time” the majority of most nights, I should have a decent shot at it.  And yes, I’m enjoying myself.

Anyway, nothing much else to speak of happened while I was gone… Oh, nothing much that is, except that Girl Grey is back to blogging and man, is she a total hawtie or what? All I can say is WoW!!  I’m smitten!  Ring?  What ring? 😉
